Route description

Skär till skär swimrun 2024

The Skär till skär swimrun route takes you over many small islands in the Brunskär archipelago. The route starts in the harbour and continues with a run on Brunskär before the first swim leg. The swim leg between Brunskär and Matusgadd crosses a fairway that is sporadically used by mostly leisure vessels. We will control the fairway from our boats to ensure safe swimming to Matusgadd.

The route continues from here over small islands along the rocky shores. The route is technically demanding and the runner needs to keep a close eye on the surface. It is a good idea to train in similar conditions and to lower the speed in case you become fatigued or insecure. The route is marked with painted stones, chalk paint and ribbons according to what suits best in the terrain.

The route offers two service stations, one at Flada Rönnskär and another at Birsskär. We serve water, energy drinks, banana and energy bars at the stations.

The swim legs are mostly well protected from wind. Each leg has one race official who monitors the swim leg. The goal of each swim leg is marked with a big white triangel on the opposite shore. When entering and coming up from the water it is important to take it easy and ensure good grip to avoid slipping.

The route is 9,2 kilometers in total. It consists of 13 swim legs, the longest is 300m, the shortest 50m.
